The lack of a shortcode has nothing to do with not being able to activate your phone, bcs other U.S. users can activate theirs. It probably has to do with your carrier, from what I've read from other users.
@FleaSha no... What BBD is talking about is the number to send an SMS to jaiku. Right now it's a Finnish #. Basically you have to send an international SMS to send to jaiku. Or you can use IMified or GTalk
